Silverstone

Just 15 miles from Daventry, Silverstone is the home of the British Grand Prix. With races throughout the season, Silverstone also offers track days and driving experiences throughout the year. And, of course, it has a comprehensive range of corporate events if you are planning to entertain your customers.

Historic Towns

There are a number of historic towns all within an easy drive of Daventry. Why not visit the birthplace of the Bard in Stratford Upon Avon. Steeped in culture and history and set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK.

Leamington Spa, with its famous mineral springs, is a lovely spa town. Visit the pump rooms, or stroll around the The Gardens, long been famous for their floral displays, beautiful and unusual trees, fountains and quiet riverbanks. It also has excellent shopping with many individual boutiques as well as a wide choice of good quality restaurants, cafes and tea rooms.

Visiting Warwick is a friendly and a memorable experience with something for all ages. The town is set amidst historic buildings and numerous attractions. Warwick has an ever-growing reputation for the variety of its cafes, restaurants and other eateries. The Market Square plays host to numerous events throughout the year and is the home of the Charter Market. Visit Warwick Castle, Britain’s Greatest Mediaeval experience, the Lord Leycester Hospital with its fine mediaeval timber framed buildings, the military museums and the Collegiate Church of St Mary famous for its Beauchamp Chapel.

Shopping

England’s second city, Birmingham, is just 40 minutes drive north from Daventry. Birmingham has undergone radical changes in the last 15 years and is an absolute shopper’s paradise, the place to revitalise any wardrobe or home. Whether you seek head-turning chic, or eye-catching value, it’s all waiting in the bold new shopping capital of Europe. From Harvey Nichols or Selfridges. From the welcoming mix of new or revitalised malls. From vibrant markets with ‘must-have’ bargains galore. Visit the world-famous Jewellery Quarter where hand-made craftsmanship waits at unbelievable prices or stroll through the regenerated canal area which is bustling with shops and restaurants.

Twenty five minutes south is Milton Keynes, with its huge shopping mall. Milton Keynes boasts all the major stores, including John Lewis, House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer, as well as many small individual stores and market stalls. There are thousands of parking places and plenty of places to eat and refresh yourself if you get too tired from carrying all those shopping bags.

Indoor ski centre

Whatever the weather or time of year, you can ski, snow board or toboggan on real snow at Milton Keynes Xscape. But there’s much more to Xscape than just the snow. It is a totally unique centre, combining Europe’s largest indoor 'real snow' ski slope, indoor rock climbing wall, 16 screen cinema multiplex, family entertainment centre which includes ten pin bowling, health and fitness centre, bars, restaurants, cafes and lifestyle and fashion retail outlets - under one roof.

Theatre

Northampton’s Royal and Derngate and Milton Keynes theatres are both within easy reach for an evening out.

Canal boats

Two miles away from Daventry is the village of Braunston which lies at the crossways of the Grand Union and Oxford canals, and indeed the whole waterways.

Braunston Marina is steeped in history. It was originally developed at the turn of the 19th century as the waterways depot at the northern end of what was then called the Grand Junction Canal. Today Braunston Marina is a major centre for leisure craft, both narrow boats and canal cruisers, with modern mooring facilities for 250 boats.

Daventry Country Park

Daventry Country Park combines 130 acres of countryside with a reservoir, a nature reserve, nature trail, wooded areas, picnic sites, an adventure playground, guided walks and a visitor centre. The central feature is a canal-feeder reservoir fringed by wetlands and surrounded by areas of woodland and meadow. Access to this tranquil site is encouraged with paths and nature trails, a ranger service and a programme of guided walks.

Daventry Leisure Centre

The leisure centre in the centre of the town has many facilities, including a 25m swimming pool, with wave machine, lazy river and water cannons. It also features a full health club and gym, extensive sports facilities, sun beds, a crèche and a programme of social events.

Towcester Racecourse

With a recent investment of over £7.5 million into the course and its facilities and set in beautiful parklands overlooking the rolling Northamptonshire countryside, Towcester Racecourse is one of the most picturesque racing venues in the country.

Towcester Racecourse hosts seventeen National Hunt meetings which run from October to May.

Althorp Estate
